Menifee is a California city located within the Los Angeles Combined Statistical Area. The city is in Riverside County and was incorporated in 2008. The land in which the city is located was inhabited before European settlement by the Luiseo Native Americans. In the 1700's, it was first ruled by the Spanish, then Mexico and later the United States.

Shopping and Dining

The Menifee Town Center Shopping Center is one of the best shopping resources in Menifee for everyday purchases on groceries. The shopping center includes a Ralph's supermarket and a Dollar Tree. The Newport Plaza Shopping Center to the south of town is another option. The Outlets at Lake Elsinore are great for larger shopping excursions. This outlet center in Lake Elsinore includes many different retail shopping establishments including a Gap, Naturalizer shoe store, Nike Factory Store, and more.

Menifee is a great place to enjoy Mexican cuisine. Popular Mexican restaurants in the city include Provecho Grill on Cherry Hills Boulevard, Mi Pueblo Authentic on Newport Road, and Los Amigos on Railroad Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore. Giovanni's Pizza & Pasta and Texas Roadhouse are two other restaurants in town that regularly receive enthusiastically positive reviews. Hana Sushi on Haun Road offers Asian cuisine in Menifee, and fast food options include In-N-Out Burger, Chipotle, and Jack in the Box.

Parks and Recreation

Two parks located just to the southwest of the center of town include Lazy Creek Recreation Center and E. L Pete Peterson Park. The Dog Park that is connected to the E. L. Pete Peterson park is a great resources for pet owners residing in Menifee real estate. Further afield, the Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park is a great resource for lovers of the outdoors living in Menifee. This park can be reached in under an hour and includes 8,000 acres of protected natural land. Programs offered at the Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park include nature walks, and educational programs for budding young naturalists.

Menifee is a great place of residence for avid golfers. The city is located in between two large golf courses: North Golf Course to the northwest of town and Menifee Lakes Country Club to the southeast. Other sources of recreation in the area include Valley Wide Recreation & Park and the Marion V. Ashley Community Center on Briggs Road. With a population of about 83,000, Menifee has a population density of about 1,700 people for square mile. The city's mostly urban population has grown steadily over the last few years and is expected to continue growing through 2015. The cost of living index reading of 113.3 is fairly high in Menifee; however, it is lower in Menifee than in many surrounding California communities like Long Beach or Carlsbad.

Schools,Healthcare, and Transportation

The Menifee Union School District and the Romoland School District both operate schools in the city of Menifee. The Menifee Union School District runs three middle schools and nine elementary schools. Public high schools in Menifee are run by the Perris Union High School District. University-level studies can be carried out in and around Menifee at Mt. San Jacinto College Menifee Valley orBrandman University.

The Menifee Valley Medical Center on McCall Boulevard offers health care services to residents of Menifee real estate. This is a 327-bed hospital where service offerings include emergency care, cardiac care, endoscopy, surgery, orthopedic treatment, joint replacement, and more. Family medical services are offered nearby at Murrieta Family Medicine on Las Brisas Road in Murrieta and at Rancho Family Medical Group on Haun Road.

For public transportation, residents of Menifee real estate can rely on bus service provided by Riverside Transit Agency. Riverside Transit Agency serves western Riverside County and connects Menifee with nearby communities including Murrieta, Temecula, Oceanside, Riverside, Lake Elsinore, and more. Other public transportation resources in the area include three different Amtrak stations within 20 miles: one n Perris, one in Hemet, and one in Moreno Valley. There is a Greyhound bus station located about 8 miles away on East 4th Street in Perris.

The Heritage Lake neighborhood of Menifee, California lies between Matthews Road to the north, Simpson Road to the south, Menifee and Briggs Roads to the west and east. The pride of the community is the 25-acre man-made lake. The associated club offers a splash park, tot lot and waterfront pool. Residents enjoy the tranquility the lake offers as well as the catch-and-release fishing and paddle boating.

Stunning four and five bedroom homes near Heritage Lake feature spacious floor plans more than 3,000 square feet. Outdoor rooms and glistening water features overlook beautiful views of the surrounding hills. No homes in the area were built prior to 2005 in this stunning new area. Mesa View Elementary and Ethan A. Chase Middle schools serve the neighborhood.


East of the Escondido Freeway and north of Keller Road, the Mapleton community runs along the northern edge of Murrieta. Quick access to the Interstate 215 makes it easy to reach shopping destinations, the conveniences in Riverside and March Air Reserve Base. Loma Linda Hospital is also nearby. The neighborhood is one of the newer communities in Murrieta, with most homes built between 2009 and 2010. Many cul-de-sacs complement the parks and walking paths lending an element of privacy to gracious homes. Large homes with five and six bedrooms are not uncommon with gorgeous architectural details like vaulted ceilings and open floor plans.

Menifee Union School District serves the area with Menifee Preschool, Shevela Middle School and Tovashal Elementary School. The Murrieta Valley Unified School District provides Vista Murrieta High School

The Lakes

Three gorgeous lakes and magnificent mountain views are the hallmarks of the Lakes district in Menifee. The neighborhood is generally west of the Escondido Freeway, between Newport and Holland Roads. Outdoor lovers can enjoy the many walking paths, community parks, boating and fishing opportunities all around them. Three to five bedroom homes in gated communities enjoy waterfront properties, quiet cul-de-sacs and spectacular views of the Lakes. Resort style living includes spacious back yards with gazebos, fire pits and other amenities designed to take full advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
